Eric C. Lang has practiced law in Atlanta, Georgia since 1990. His practice is a mix of litigation and general business counseling.
Mr. Lang’s litigation practice has spanned 20 states and 4 countries with great breadth: his largest court appearances have included federal securities and breach of contract cases with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, yet, he is just as comfortable representing individuals in matters with less than $100,000 at issue. He has appeared in court on legal issues such as banking law, business dissolution, breach of contract, commercial law, copyright infringement, corporate governance, fraud, insurance coverage, noncompetition/ nonsolicitation, securities and trademark infringement. His clients include individuals and entities across a broad range of industries. One of Mr. Lang’s recently reported cases in Georgia, Kinard v. WorldCom, set the standard in Georgia for the award of attorney’s fees in a frivolous breach of contract action. Mr. Lang spoke on the subject of Enforcing and Attacking Settlement Agreements at the annual Contract Litigation seminar of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, held in August 2006.
As a business counselor, Mr. Lang has helped negotiate contracts and structure a wide variety of transactions ranging from online financial services agreements to manufacturing distribution networks. His business counseling skills arise directly from his experience as a litigator. In this regard, Mr. Lang recently taught a continuing legal education seminar to hundreds of members of the Georgia Bar’s Corporate Law Section entitled Ten Things Every Business Lawyer Should Know: A Litigator’s Perspective.
Mr. Lang is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubble, and has been honored by Atlanta Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine as a “Rising Star” in the legal profession for the year 2005.
Educational
Mr. Lang graduated first in his class from the University of Florida College of Law in July of 1990. While there, he was an editor of the Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. In his senior year, he was president of the student body.
Community
Mr. Lang currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Sinai in Atlanta. Mr. Lang is in his sixth season as a little league baseball coach at Murphey Candler Little League. Mr. Lang is an avid baseball card collector.
