Robert C. Newcomer has practiced law in Atlanta, Georgia since 1996. His practice is a mix of business litigation and general business counseling.

Mr. Newcomer’s litigation experience includes representing individuals, small businesses and large corporations in state and federal courts and before state and federal environmental authorities in cases involving issues of environmental liability, breach of contract, noncompetition and nonsolicitation, construction, real estate and mortgage fraud, receiverships, trespass and nuisance, product liability and fraud. Mr. Newcomer also helps clients resolve their legal problems through arbitration, mediation, and negotiated early settlements.

Mr. Newcomer’s counseling experience includes negotiating and reviewing contracts and structuring transactions to help clients identify legal risks, develop and incorporate appropriate risk mitigation and avoidance strategies, and to achieve other personal and business objectives. Mr. Newcomer has extensive experience advising clients on environmental issues, including solid and hazardous waste liability, storm water management, sediment and erosion control and compliance with a variety of local, state and federal environmental requirements.

Mr. Newcomer has authored articles and speaks on environmental and business litigation matters. He is a member of the General Practice and Trial, Environmental and Real Property Sections of the Georgia Bar Association. He is currently the Vice-Present/President-Elect of the Environmental and Toxic Tort Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, and a member of the Litigation and Real Estate Sections of the Atlanta Bar Association.

Educational

Mr. Newcomer graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law and received his Masters in Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment in 1996. While at Duke, Mr. Newcomer was the Executive Editor of the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum. Mr. Newcomer graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri at St. Louis in 1992.

Community

Mr. Newcomer has been active with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation providing pro bono legal services to those who cannot afford legal representation, and has worked with The Georgia Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation, Trust for Public Land and the City of Atlanta’s BeltLine Partnership. He is an active member of the Atlanta District Council of the Urban Land Institute and the Regional Atlanta Civic League. He currently serves on the Membership Committee for the Regional Atlanta Civic League. Mr. Newcomer is an avid trail runner.
